In line with further enhancing Sharjah’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and supporting startups, the two giants in innovation and acceleration, Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center (Sheraa) and Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The MoU was signed by Najla Al-Midfa, CEO of Sheraa and H.E Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park. This partnership highlights the synergy between both parties and their mutual intent to support and provide a more cohesive entrepreneurial ecosystem for all future innovators.
As part of the collaboration, Sheraa and SRTIP will collaborate and hold joint entrepreneurial competitions, initiatives and programs to attract entrepreneurial talent and support locally conceived ventures. Both organizations will work together to best use their services in assisting local startups, by providing mentorship and referrals. The partnership will also aid in enhancing Sharjah’s pool of venture capital that entrepreneurs will have access to.
Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park will provide a subsidized licensing and coworking space package to Sheraa startups with access to their facilities such as maker spaces and labs. Furthermore, Sheraa will this year be relocating to the Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park campus. The largest Sheraa hub, to date will be launched next year.

This announcement comes after Sharjah was ranked the top in high growth activation phase ecosystems in the newly launched Global Startup Ecosystem Report (GSER) by Startup Genome, marking a milestone in the emirate’s journey towards becoming a thriving global startup hub.
His Excellency Hussain Muhammad Al Mahmoudi welcomed this agreement and this cooperation with Sheraa, stressing that all aspects of support will be provided to implement the joint plans that have been developed between the two parties to enhance cooperation between the two sides to support emerging companies, stressing the role played by the complex, and this cooperation comes with Shiraa, a translation of the efforts of the complex. Towards strengthening Sharjah’s position on global indicators and rankings, as Sharjah has been ranked at the top of the five best emerging companies’ environments according to the Global Emerging Business Environment Report, and Sharjah occupies a distinctive place in the emerging business world as it is considered a leading global center in the field of innovation, research and entrepreneurship, based on its trends towards a knowledge economy by supporting, encouraging and developing the innovation system, and supporting applied scientific and technological research to carry out investment activities through our endeavor to consolidate the position of the UAE in general and Sharjah in particular as a center for entrepreneurship and innovative projects emerging at the regional level and support its global competitiveness.
The launch of the Sharjah Advanced Technology Accelerator Program, which was launched by the complex at the beginning of this year, is a continuation of the pivotal role that the Sharjah Innovation Complex plays in advancing research and development within strategic sectors, transforming government agencies into centers for future exploration, and attracting the best minds and emerging companies locally and globally to find solutions to challenges. Development, and transforming these challenges into economic opportunities and business models.
The vision of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park is to develop and manage an innovation system that encourages research and development and supports institutional activities and tripartite cooperation between industry, government and academia sectors. This vision also establishes an enabling environment conducive to innovation and creativity through the establishment of an attractive and sustainable complex, distinguished by its infrastructure and integrated services to transfer and indigenize knowledge and support, and to encourage the establishment and development of an innovation system with the aim of establishing and strengthening the position of the UAE as an international destination in the fields of research and technology and stimulating investment .
